Unitech Industry Advisory Board/Committee

Papua New Guinea is not listed as a country that is under any of the Industry Accords and therefore requires accreditation of the degrees achieved at universities and technical colleges. The first advisory board established is to make the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (Unitech) to have all its engineering degrees accredited. Below are the list of individuals who are currently on the Advisory Board and then each of the Committees that make up the Departmental Committees.

Industry Advisory Board

The Industry Advisory Board roles and responsibility include:

  • Provide appropriate guidance in direction of university in syllabus that is being provided
  • Any feedback from the industry that helps with the overall success of industry in Papua New Guinea

The Departmental Industry Advisory Committee (DIAC) roles and responsibility include:

  • Provide advice and support to the Department in achieving its teaching, research and service goals;
  • Provide advice on skills, knowledge and attributes sought by employers of graduates from the Courses;
  • Update the Department on recent developments, trends and directions in the relevant professions and industries with respect to Course development;
  • Provide advice on potential for development of new related Courses and renewal of the existing Course;
  • Assist the departments in industrial training attachments with industry for industry exposure of students before graduation; and;
  • Assist with any review process of the Course by panel(s) established by Unitech of through Department benchmarking
